Psychological Issues that Impact Learning and Safety

Research indicates that over one million students in the U.S. come to school from homes and/or communities where they have experienced maltreatment and been exposed to violence. Schools need to better understand the impact of these early forms of victimization. Educators need to meet the challenge of accommodating to these students' needs.
